Celebration of Discipline

Facilitator: Mark Moorman

Day & Time: Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. (Starting Feb. 2nd)

Class Duration: 13 weeks

Cost: $12

Hailed by many as the best modern book on Christian spirituality and described by Christianity Today as one of the ten best books of the twentieth century, Celebration of Discipline explores the classic “Disciplines,” or central spiritual practices, of the Christian faith. Along the way, Richard J. Foster shows that it is only by and through these practices that we can find a true path to spiritual growth. Dividing the Disciplines into three movements of the spirit, Foster shows how each movement contributes to a balanced spiritual life. The inward Disciplines of meditation, prayer, fasting, and study offer avenues for personal examination and change. The outward Disciplines of simplicity, solitude, submission, and service prepare us to help make the world a better place. The corporate Disciplines of confession, worship, guidance, and celebration bring us nearer to one another and to God. Foster provides a wealth of examples demonstrating how the Disciplines can become part of our daily activities—and how they can help us shed our superficial habits and “bring the abundance of God into our lives.” Featuring a new foreword, preface, and closing essay, Celebration of Discipline will help motivate Christians everywhere to embark on a journey of prayer and spiritual growth.

The Armor of God

Facilitator: Kathy Glover

Day & Time: Tuesdays from 6:30-8 p.m. (Starting Feb. 8th)

Class Duration: 7 weeks

Cost: $20

All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you're tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you. The enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer, more than merely a biblical description of the believer's inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.

Discovering Christian Life (DCL) is a course to help you understand the foundational truths of Christianity so that you can be firmly established in the faith, confident in what you believe, and effective in living the Christian life. The goal of DCL is to help you develop a biblical worldview with the ability to think through issues biblically to help answer the question, “What does every believer need to know to be fully established in the Christian faith?” DCL is made up of four twelve-week courses and employs a unique interactive and ordered learning process. At the end of the four courses, you should be well grounded in the foundational truths of Christianity, able to stand firm in sound doctrine, equipped for continued growth in your relationship with God, and more effective in your relationships with believers and nonbelievers. Never taken DCL? That's great! We'll be starting Book IV, but you do not need to have done the previous books to jump in. All are welcome!
